Dr. Michelle Rickert serves as President and Founder of the Virginia Coalition Against Human Trafficking.

Dr. Rickert received a B.S. in Government, magna cum laude, from Liberty University, and a J.D. from George Mason School of Law, cum laude. She served as a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable William Witham Jr. at the Kent County Superior Court in Dover, Delaware and was an attorney with Amster, Rothstein & Ebenstein, LLP in New York City. Dr. Rickert served as Dean of Admissions at Liberty University School of Law and as a professor at Liberty University, where she founded the Liberty University Pre-Law Society, and the Liberty University Moot Court Team. She is currently the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid at Louisiana College School of Law in Shreveport, LA, a newly founded Christian law school, and is the managing editor of the prestigious Supreme Court Economic Review. Currently, Dr. Rickert is pursuing her LLM through the University of London.

In 2009 Dr. Rickert was invited to speak on human trafficking at the Oxford Round Table. Her paper, “Wilberforce’s Work is Not Done: Dealing with Modern Day Slavery and Human Trafficking,” discussed the U.S. policy regarding human trafficking.

Prof. Paul Rickert serves as Treasurer for VCAHT.

He graduated from Word of Life Bible Institute in 1991 & 1992, from Liberty University in 1996 with a B.S. in Government cum laude, completed the M.S. in Peace Operations from George Mason University’s Peace Operations Policy Program (2003), the M.C.J. from Faulkner University (2006) where he was inducted into Alpha Phi Sigma – The National Criminal Justice Honor Society, the Graduate Certificate in Social Policy and Administration from Longwood University (2008), the Ed.S. from Liberty University’s Graduate School of Education (2009) with distinction, and is currently working towards completing his dissertation towards his Ed.D. from Liberty.

He served in the Virginia Army National Guard from 1994-2000 as an infantry scout and fire team leader. He graduated from the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy (1996) and has worked in county, city, state, and private policing capacities within the Commonwealth of Virginia. He developed and taught courses in both the residential and online criminal justice programs at Liberty University for 7 years. Currently he is Director of the Criminal Justice and Human Services Programs as well as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at LeTourneau University in Longview, TX.

He became interested in this issue about around 2006 when a criminology student of his wanted to do more about this issue. This led to the first “Liberty Abolishing Slavery” event called the RED Event. Since that time the interest in the area led to classes on this topic and a week long event in March 2011 with 18 speakers and 4 films on human trafficking.

Miss Sarah Spillar serves as Public Relations Director for VCAHT.

Sarah Spillar will receive a B.S. in Government in 2012 and will attend law school. She was a member of the Liberty University Debate Team in 2008. She serves as President of the Liberty University Online Academy Alumni Association. She is a member of the Liberty University Undergraduate Moot Court Team. She was inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honors Society, in 2011. She served as the Engagements Coordinator and Executive Board Member of the Liberty University Stand with Israel Club (2009-2011). She serves as the President of the Stand with Israel Club and of the Liberty University Pre-Law Society. She is an Office Assistant at Liberty Counsel (2009-Present). She served as a Senator for the Liberty University Student Government Association. She serves as a Justice on the Liberty University Student Appeals Court and as a Justice for the Liberty University Student Court (Student Government Association).

She became active in the modern anti-trafficking movement after taking Dr. Rickert’s Human Trafficking course. She assisted Dr. Rickert in starting the Virginia Coalition Against Human Trafficking.

Miss Kacey Martin serves as Secretary for VCAHT.

Kacey Martin received a Bachelor of Science in Government with a specialization in Pre-Law studies from Liberty University in 2011. While attending Liberty University she served as Vice-President to the Pre-Law Society.

Kacey first became interested in the field of human trafficking in high school and her passion only grew as she began researching the issue in college. While pursuing her undergraduate degree she prepared several speeches on human trafficking in Russia, wrote research papers on human trafficking in the United States and actively lobbied at both the state and national level for anti- trafficking legislation.

Kacey is currently enrolled in Liberty University School of Law and expects to receive her Juris Doctor in 2014. She continues to vigorously seek new ways to end modern day slavery and hopes to one day prosecute human trafficking violators for the United States Department of Justice.
